concertman

Personal

I'm Jarod, known around the web as concertman. Originally from Kansas, I now live in London, UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ with my wife, our two kids, and 3 cats 🐈. I have strong opinions about some things like barbecue, there's really only one kind. I'm a Swiftie and think that Taylor is an incredible songwriter and performer. For most other things, I strongly believe that kindness should be the goal.

I've always been interested in music 🎡 and computers πŸ–₯️. I now have what might be the ideal job for me, working in the audio team at Apple. I basically spend a lot of time listening to music and making tools for myself and others to make music (along with other sounds).

You might be able to tell that I'm not much of a writer, but I've always enjoyed being able to publish my thoughts. I used Twitter for a very long time but have all but abandoned that with recent changes. That's why I decided to bring back all the old iterations of a blog under this one place.

As a kid I grew up in the Methodist Church ✝️. During and after University I became a bit frustrated by the protestant church in the US and started to look around and research the history of the church. Then I met an Orthodox Christian priest at a New Years Eve party (isn't that where everyone meets a priest?) and he invited my wife and I to the bible study at his parish. From there we found a lot of what we felt was missing from Christianity. A while after that we were chrismated and became part of the Orthodox Christian Church ☦️. We currently are a part of The Parish of St. Peter & St. Paul in Clapham.

Music

As a musician I've not done as much lately as I used to but I'm hoping to rebuild that and make a new habit of getting back into songwriting. These are the most "popular" songs I've written (I use popular very losely, mostly songs that I earned the most money from).

Tech

I'm "self taught" (meaning I didn't go to school for it) when it comes to programming. I started off with Ruby which I really enjoyed for it's clean, simple style. Then when Swift came along I dove in fully. That's what I spend most of my time today using. I also do a lot of ObjectiveC/C++ as well as some other C languages.

Other

I'm sure I'll think of other things to add here later so I'm just going to have this section here just in case.
